New Canaan, CT - Summer Theatre of New Canaan (STONC) proudly announces the cast and creative team of its summer mainstage show Matilda The Musical directed by Allegra Libonati (Bway: Hair). Inspired by the twisted imagination of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Matilda The Musical has a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin. Matilda The Musical will perform at the NCHS Theater (11 Farm Rd, New Canaan, CT) from July 10 - 26, 2026. Performances will be on Fridays at 6:30 pm, Saturdays at 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Opening Night is Saturday, July 11 at 6:30 pm. Synopsis: Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. Unloved by her cruel parents, she finds belonging with her schoolteacher Miss Honey and her librarian Mrs. Phelps in telling imaginative stories. However, the school's wicked headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, has set her sights on making life difficult for the schoolchildren. Using her courage, cleverness, and perhaps a bit of magic, Matilda finds ways of fighting back against the forces of injustice around her. Packed with high-energy dance numbers, and catchy songs, Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. North Haven, CT - Country music fans across Connecticut have another reason to get excited about the inaugural Connecticut Country Music Festival coming to the North Haven Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Festival organizers have announced that platinum-selling recording artist and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks will serve as the official host for what promises to be one of the state's biggest country music events of the summer. Known for his soulful voice, dynamic stage presence, and enduring popularity with fans nationwide, Hicks has built a successful career as a recording artist, live performer, television personality, and entertainer. STAMFORD, Conn. — The Stamford Museum & Nature Center will celebrate its 90th birthday on Saturday, June 27, with a full day of programming, discounted admission and special activities for visitors of all ages. The special day features $9 admission for non-members (members always visit free), free snacks, special animal encounters and additional programming throughout the day. The event is designed as a thank-you to the community; the backbone of the organization, sustaining 90 years of inspiration, discovery and learning. “We’re turning 90, and the party is all about YOU!” the organization said, announcing the event. As part of the festivities, every 90th visitor entering the grounds in the days leading up to Saturday will receive a surprise. As a special nod to the institution’s founding, both regularly scheduled Stamford Skies planetarium shows at 2 and 8 p.m. on June 27 will feature a look back at the night sky as it appeared 90 years ago. Under the dome, visitors will experience the night sky exactly as the museum’s founders would have seen it on opening day in 1936. Wing Ding Parade, Skyblast, Health Fair, and The Great Street Parade Headline Community Celebrations Across Bridgeport. BRIDGEPORT, CT – The Barnum Festival is excited to announce the finale of June Events, featuring Free Family Fun with community celebrations, family-friendly entertainment, fundraising events, and beloved traditions across Greater Bridgeport. The final four June highlights include the Wing Ding Parade, Skyblast Fireworks, the Community Health Fair, and the Great Street Parade, each event supports Barnum Festival activities and scholarships. Whether attending a waterfront fireworks spectacular, participating in a community parade, or enjoying one of the Festival's signature Wing Ding, guests of all ages are invited to join in the celebration throughout the month. June 20 | Wing Ding Parade: FREE FAMILY FUN. The annual Wing Ding Parade returns to Beardsley Zoo for a day of imagination and family entertainment. Registration opens at 9am and the parade begins at 10am. Guests can also enjoy free admission to the Zoo until noon, free bicycle helmets courtesy of Bridgeport Elks Lodge #36 – while supplies last, along with face painting, balloon animals, music, and food vendors. June 26 | Barnum Skyblast Fireworks: FREE FAMILY FUN. The beloved Barnum Skyblast Fireworks return to Seaside Park in Bridgeport for an evening with Food Trucks at 6pm, live entertainment at 7pm, and a spectacular fireworks display over Long Island Sound at dusk. June 27 | Community Health Fair: FREE FAMILY FUN. Healthcare providers from across the Greater Bridgeport area will come together for the Community Health Fair, offering free screenings, wellness resources, and family programming, sponsored by Hartford Healthcare. The event will be held at Central High School from 11am -2pm. Additional details online. June 28 | The Great Street Parade: FREE FAMILY FUN. The Barnum Festival concludes with its signature event, The Great Street Parade, a cherished tradition featuring marching bands, floats, performers, community organizations, and local leaders. The parade kicks off at 11:00am with the route starting at North @ Clinton @ Brooklawn Avenue; traveling down North to Park Avenue, then right onto Capitol Avenue; ending at Lincoln Boulevard.
