The 8th Annual Westoberfest Craft Beer and Family Fall Festival Returns to Downtown Westport For an Unforgettable Celebration

Get ready to raise a glass and toast the return of one of Westport’s most anticipated fall festivals. The Westoberfest Craft Beer and Family Fall Festival is back for its eighth year, bringing together craft beer enthusiasts, families, and the community for an afternoon full of flavor, music, activities, and fun.

The celebration takes place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 12:00 to 6:00 PM in the heart of downtown Westport at Sigrid Schulz Plaza on Elm Street.

Beer lovers will enjoy a diverse selection of local and regional brews, from crisp lagers and bold IPAs to rich stouts and refreshing cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic options. The tasting tent will be open from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, with attendees receiving a punch ticket to guide their tasting journey. Completed punch tickets may be submitted for a chance to win raffle prizes. New this year, Castle Wine & Spirits will join the tasting area as your Westoberfest sommeliers, guiding you through seasonal wines and curated pairings perfect for the fall season ahead.

The eight annual festival promises more than just fantastic brews; it will also feature children’s activities, on-site vendors, delicious food, friendly competitions, and lively music.

Children can enjoy face painting, pumpkin decorating, and flower crown making, and, new this year, families can enjoy the Westoberfest Petting Zoo hosted by Kelly’s Kids. Additionally, various vendors will be on-site for shopping pleasure, including Beyond Yoga, Filling in the Blanks, Here for You, Hughie’s Jewelry & Coins, Inclusive Brew, Joli Lily, Leaf Filter, Legacy Martial Arts, New Mom School Westport, Real + Co, Renewal by Anderson, Stifel E3 Wealth Advisory Group, and others. Looking for a bite to eat? Enjoy traditional German fare from Colossal Kielbasa, along with local favorites including Haven Hot Chicken, Paradise Island Food, COBS Bread, Sushi Jin, and refreshing lemonade from LemonNate’s.

On stage this year, Westoberfest kicks off with live music by Dan Tressler from 12:30 to 2:30 PM. His impressive versatility and infectious energy make for a true musical journey. Following Dan, One Bad Oyster returns to the stage from 2:30 to 5:30 PM. This energetic ska-surf band from Fairfield County has built a reputation for electrifying performances, blending infectious beats that get everyone moving. If you weren’t dancing last year, this year is your chance!

Returning this year, festival-goers can unleash their competitive spirit in the annual Westoberfest contests. Outlast the crowd in the stein-holding challenge or, if you’ve got an appetite, face off against fellow Westporters in the hot dog eating competition. CBS News Weather Anchor and proud Westport resident Lonnie Quinn returns as host and is ready to bring his energy to the festivities. Competitions will be held on the main stage, so get ready to compete or bring the crowd energy to cheer on your favorite participants.

Danbury, CT – The Danbury Library invites the community to join in a vibrant celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, on November 8, 2025 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the library , 170 Main Street. This engaging program will explore the rich culture and traditions surrounding Diwali, a significant festival in Hinduism as well as in Jainism and Sikhism, celebrated by millions around the world. Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The celebrations, which occur between mid-September and mid-November, typically last for five to six days and feature a variety of cultural activities. This year, the Danbury Library will host an array of exciting events, including storytelling sessions that illuminate the significance of Diwali, hands-on craft activities, henna painting, mindfulness practices, demonstrations of dancing, and a delightful exploration of traditional garam masala spices. “The library is thrilled and proud to celebrate as both a joyous festival of light and a chance for the community of Danbury to learn about the rich traditions and stories that illuminate it,” said Douglas Lord, the library's project coordinator. With approximately 6% of Danbury's population, or 5,400 residents, identifying as Asian, the Indian community contributes significantly to the city's cultural tapestry. Past Diwali celebrations at the Danbury Library have garnered praise from attendees, with one participant stating, "The event was a beautiful blend of culture, color, and community - a true reflection of the spirit of Diwali." WESTPORT, Connecticut - The Westport Library is getting an early jump on next year’s VersoFest , our annual festival celebrating music, media, and creativity. The Thing , the rising rock band out of New York City with roots in Connecticut, will be performing the VersoFest Kickoff Concert on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 8 pm. Presales for the concert begin on Tuesday, November 4, with the general on-sale on Friday, November 7. Tickets are $35. Click here for more information. The full schedule for VersoFest’26 will be unveiled soon, with the four main days of the festival scheduled to run from Thursday, March 26, to Sunday, March 29, 2026. This is the fifth year for VersoFest, the Library’s annual music and media conference and festival where knowledge is shared and inspiration is discovered — a forum for media creators, artists, and fans to converge. VersoFest includes concert performances; conversations with leading lights in music and media; workshops that provide creators the opportunity to deconstruct, improve, and hone their craft; knowledge opportunities; art installations; and much, much more. Past VersoFest guests include hip hop legend Chuck D; established hit-makers the Wallflowers, Spin Doctors, and the Smithereens; up-and-coming bands Sunflower Bean and the Lemon Twigs; the Roots lead emcee Black Thought; hardcore punk pioneer Henry Rollins; rockers Lez Zeppelin; famed producers Steve Lillywhite (U2, Dave Matthews Band) and Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T. Rex); Psychedelic Furs frontman Richard Butler; the Doors drummer John Densmore; Cramps drummer Miriam Linna; Alice Cooper Group bassist Dennis Dunaway; hip-hop originators Tony Crush and Grand Wizzard Theodore; David Letterman music director Paul Shaffer; SNL Beehive Queen Christine Ohlman; and a wide array of authors, photographers, artists, and thought leaders. The Thing’s sound is a throwback to rock and roll’s roots, with a traditional lineup of guitar, bass, and drums, with songs that nod to the Kinks and the White Stripes, among many others. “We've kind of adapted the ethos of: with restriction comes creativity, old becomes new,” said guitarist/vocalist Jack Bradley. “And throughout every part of the process that remains true.” The four members of The Thing came from intersecting backgrounds, lending to their rock-and-roll-as-melting-pot vibe. Bassist/vocalist Zane Acord grew up with a drummer dad who hipped him to bands like Led Zeppelin and Grand Funk Railroad; he met guitarist/vocals Michael Carter, an avid Beatles fan, in middle school. While in high school, the duo connected with Bradley, an aspiring producer with a studio in his basement and a yen for psych rock. Jazz drummer Lucas Ebeling linked up with the band when everyone found their way to New York in 2022. Since that time, they’ve played more than 300 shows across the world, including a wide-ranging late 2025 European tour that will take them to Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, London, Paris, and Stockholm, to name just a few. The group has put out three LPs in total: their 2023 debut Here’s the Thing, the 2024 follow-up The Thing Is, their self-titled third album, which came out in August 2025. “It showcases all of us, all of our different personalities,” Acord said of the new album. “In The Thing, we’re a collective band. We hang our hats on being a true band — where we all have the spotlight. I think that gives us a different edge.” Added Bradley: “We threw all of our different various influences throughout — all the decades of rock and roll and adjacent genres — and ended up with something of our own. Our contribution to the genre. Our style. Our… thing.” *** VersoFest’26 Kickoff Concert: The Thing Friday, February 27, 2026 8 pm Trefz Forum, The Westport Library Event link: https://westportlibrary.org/event/versofest-2026-kickoff-concert-the-thing/ Story link: https://westportlibrary.org/the-thing-to-kick-off-versofest-2026/ VersoFest 2026: https://versofest.org/
