Taste of New Canaan Stroll Returns August 20
New Canaan, CT: One of New Canaan's most popular summer events is back. The 7th Annual Taste of New Canaan Stroll takes place on Thursday, August 20, from 5:00–8:00 PM, inviting food lovers to explore downtown, while supporting the New Canaan Food Pantry.
Presented by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce and produced by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events, the stroll is a delicious celebration of the town's vibrant dining scene. This self-guided culinary adventure invites guests to sip and savor through downtown, while discovering the very best of New Canaan's restaurants, retailers, and local hospitality across three distinctive tasting experiences.
· The Taste Tour features 15-stops showcasing signature bites. Highlights include The Roger Sherman serving Czar Egg Mimosas, The Waveny offering Thai Watermelon Salad with Shrimp, and Thail by Chef Prasad dishing up Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice.
· Family Fiesta is a shorter route with 10-delicious-stops, blending sweet and savory treats from favorites including Mama Hu's Sushi Bakes, Cherry Street Cheese & Provisions, Curry Mango's Vermicelli Payasam, and Press Burger's Banana Pudding.
· The Pour Tour is a 21+ tasting experience featuring seasonal wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails at 10-participating venues. Valid photo ID is required.
Last year's event welcomed more than 250 participants and raised over $7,400 for the New Canaan Food Pantry. Thanks to the generous support of Walter Stewart's Market, much needed pantry staples are supplied at cost, allowing every dollar raised to have an even greater impact. "The Taste of New Canaan Stroll has become one of the Chamber's signature community events," said Laura Budd, Executive Director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. "It brings people into our downtown, shines a spotlight on our outstanding local businesses, and helps provide essential support for the local Food Pantry. It's a wonderful example of the local community coming together to do good while having a great evening out."
Strollers need to pick up their wristbands and tour maps beginning at 5:00 PM at Stewart's Spirits. Final check-in is 7:30 PM, and all tours conclude promptly at 8:00 PM.

Westport, CT: Grab your friends and family and celebrate fall in downtown Westport as Westoberfest Craft Beer & Family Fall Festival returns for its ninth year on Saturday, October 3, from 1–5 PM at Sigrid Schultz Plaza and along Elm Street . The annual fall celebration brings together craft beer, live music, food, art, shopping and family activities for an afternoon in the heart of downtown. Admission to Westoberfest is FREE , with a separate Beer Tasting Pass available for guests 21 and older. Connecticut: Just in time for spooky season, Connecticut has launched a brand-new way to explore the state’s darker history, legendary ghost stories and mysterious places. Governor Ned Lamont and the Connecticut Office of Statewide Marketing and Tourism announced the Connecticut Haunted History Trail, featuring more than 130 locations statewide connected to haunted landmarks, paranormal lore, colonial witch-trial history and centuries of unexplained stories. 👻 Explore Connecticut’s Haunted Side The trail covers nine categories, including haunted homes, museums and theaters; historic cemeteries; hiking trails; ghost and paranormal tours; restaurants; lighthouses; witch, occult and metaphysical collections; hotels; and sites connected to Connecticut’s colonial witch trials. Visitors can choose their favorite stops and create their own haunted fall road trip. 🧙 Connecticut’s Witch Trials Came Before Salem One of the most fascinating parts of the trail explores Connecticut’s colonial witch-trial history. Connecticut’s witch trials began in 1647 — approximately 45 years before Salem — when Alse (Alice) Young of Windsor became the first person executed for witchcraft in the American colonies. At least 49 people were accused of witchcraft in colonial Connecticut , at least 34 were indicted and at least 11 were executed. In 2023, the Connecticut General Assembly formally acknowledged the injustice committed against those accused and convicted and apologized to their descendants. 🔦 Ghost Stories, Legends & Paranormal Places The Haunted History Trail goes well beyond witch-trial history. Travelers can discover historic homes and theaters associated with reported paranormal activity, centuries-old cemeteries, reportedly haunted restaurants and hotels, mysterious lighthouse lore, ghost tours, unusual collections and locations tied to Connecticut legends. With more than 130 stops, visitors can build an adventure around whatever interests them most — history, ghosts, folklore, hiking or simply discovering someplace new.
