ACE & Friends returns to BRYAC in Black Rock on March 16!

ACE & Friends returns to BRYAC BLACK ROCK on March 16, 2024.

On March 16, ACE & Friends returns to BRYAC in Black Rock, showcasing a seven-piece ensemble that will feature John LaViola and Larry Young, both of whom are founding members of Laughin’ Bones, southern CT’s original Grateful Dead tribute band. They will be joined by ACE regulars Megan Tyre, Todd Cummings, Mark Mattson, Brian Zito, and Larry Siebert.

ACE & Friends was started in 2016 by Michael Kaufman (rhythm guitar), along with Larry Siebert (lead guitar) and Mark Mattson (keyboards). Michael, who is also the co-founder of Stella Blues band, is a devotee of Bob Weir as well as many other guitar giants.  Although he is out for the BRYAC gig, he will be returning to the band in April. Larry is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music, and just enjoys playing the Dead, who he has seen perform numerous times!  He also is a member of Logical Pretzel, a Steely Dan tribute band. Mark is a long-time Grateful Dead “taper”, and a member of the Grateful Dead Studies Association, with published papers on various aspects of Grateful Dead concerts. Mark's brother is Jeff Mattson, the lead guitarist for Dark Star Orchestra, the premier Grateful Dead tribute band.

After the BRYAC date keep a close eye on ACE & Friends' Facebook page for upcoming dates in April and May.  And after that, ACE & Friends will be bringing the spirit of the Dead outdoors to some Connecticut summer concert series, which dates will be announced soon!
