A Taste of Tango: Wine Tasting & Dance Performance at the Carriage Barn Arts Center on March 23.

On Saturday, March 23 The Carriage Barn Arts Center is set to host "A Taste of Tango," a special evening featuring a wine tasting and performances of this popular Argentinian dance set to traditional music. One of the most influential and famous dances of modern history, Tango originated in the streets of 18th century Buenos Aires and quickly became popular throughout Europe, North America and the rest of the world.

The evening will begin with a wine tasting of Argentinian wines at 5:30pm, followed by the performance from 6-7pm.  Professionals from the renowned Bodies Never Lie dance company, including dancers from the Joffrey Ballet New York and principals from the Dance Theatre of Harlem, will perform live at the Carriage Barn. Performances will be set to the emotive compositions of the celebrated Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla and the captivating rhythms of Buenos Aires sensation, Gotan Project. Carriage Barn member artist and former professional ballerina Barbara Simonson will capture the performers live in watercolor and pencil as they dance.

Guests are also welcome to join in a lively tango session guided by Jessica Ruhlin, an instructor from the New York City Ballet and also the Carriage Barn Membership Manager.  Tickets are available for $35, with a special rate of $25 for children aged 16 and under.
