ROAR INTO SPRING: BEARDSLEY ZOO UNLEASHES THE CALENDAR OF FUN!

Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is thrilled to release the 2024 spring calendar. There’s something fun, fabulous, and unique for everyone - like Author Day on April 6 th and Party for the Planet on April 20th! See the full list of events here on the website. There are numerous Zoo events and activities to plan a family trip for outdoor fun and breathe in the fresh air.

Here are just a few highlights to kick off the season in April:

April 6th, Week of the Young Child Kickoff, 10am-1pm

In partnership with Read to Grow, Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo will be hosting an author signing, book giveaway and story time! Meet Randy Houk, author of Ruffle, Coo and Hoo Doo; a book about animal protection and environmental preservation set right here in Bridgeport! Zoo guests will receive a signed copy of his book and listen to a story time by the author himself! Other animal themed books will also be distributed, and all books are available on a first come first served basis. This event is presented by Connecticut Children’s Pediatric Care Alliance with Hartford HealthCare.

Join the Zoo on Saturday, April 20 for our Party for the Planet!

Registered volunteers will participate in cleaning up Beardsley Park and receive free admission to the Zoo on their volunteer day. The Zoo will feature fun, green-themed activities such as an Art Sculpture Show. As part of our collaborative efforts with the AZA SAFE program, the students of One River School of Art & Design will create sculptures of endangered animals using recycled materials that will be displayed at the Zoo. Plus, our friends from AVANGRID will be onsite with their Energy In Action Mobile Interactive Exhibit!

The Zoo will also feature a DIY seed ball table where visitors can create seed balls to take home and plant in pollinator gardens to help support local ecosystems.

The Zoo plans fun, educational, and special events with seasonal programs for the entire family. Most of these seasonal activities are included with the cost of admission. Please note that the calendar may be subject to change without notice. Attendees are encouraged to visit our website to plan your visit and view or download a copy of our Zoo Map.
