Brookfield Film Festival returns Mar 27 -Mar 29th

Brookfield, CT - The Brookfield Film Festival returns March 27–29 at the Brookfield Theatre for the Arts in Brookfield, Connecticut. Nestled in Fairfield County between Candlewood Lake and Lake Lillinonah, the town has built a strong reputation within the regional film community. Now in its 18th year, the festival continues to grow as a cultural highlight for both filmmakers and audiences.
Organized by the all-volunteer Brookfield Arts Commission, the festival supports the arts through its annual Arts Scholarship Award. Proceeds help fund a scholarship for a graduating Brookfield high school senior pursuing a degree in the arts, reinforcing the event’s commitment to nurturing future creative talent.
This year’s three-day festival features four curated program blocks designed to engage filmmakers, writers, and film enthusiasts alike.
“Regional Indie Afternoon/Evening” showcases work from filmmakers across Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. This block provides a platform for local creators to present their films and participate in post-screening Q&A discussions about their work and the filmmaking process.
“Read-Through Indie Morning,” presented in collaboration with the Brookfield Theatre for the Arts, offers screenwriters the opportunity to hear scenes from their scripts performed live. These table readings allow writers to refine dialogue and storytelling while connecting with actors and fellow filmmakers. Complimentary coffee, tea, and pastries are provided.
“Shorts and to the Point” features a curated selection of Oscar-nominated and award-winning short films, with screenings scheduled Friday evening, Saturday evening, and Sunday afternoon.
The festival takes place at 184 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT. A $15 suggested donation is requested, and reservations can be made via email at brookfieldartscommissionct@gmail.com. Light refreshments and festival merchandise will be available throughout the weekend.
