Chicago City Limits is NYC’s longest running show. Founded in Chicago by George Todisco and actors participating in the workshop program at The Second City, the company relocated to New York and began performing regularly at some of the city’s premiere comedy venues including Catch a Rising Star, The Improv, and The Comic Strip. The ensemble established its own theater in NYC in 1980, which began a continuous run now numbering over 10,000 Broadway performances.
The Chicago City Limits National Touring Company travels throughout the US and the world, and has appeared at such diverse venues as Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian Institution, Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, the Super Bowl, and, at colleges and regional theaters throughout the country.
No two Chicago City Limits productions are ever alike. The troupe creates this one of a kind theatrical experience by taking suggestions from audience members and crafting scenes – plays, stories, mini-musicals, game shows and more -- on the spot. The result is an evening of theater that is totally unique.
