Southwest Cafe
109 Danbury Rd. (In the Marketplace at Copps Hill), Ridgefield, CT · 203-431-3398
This little cafe tucked away in the Marketplace at Copps Hill was opened in 1987 by Barbara Nevins. When she moved here from her home in New Mexico she brought her love of the Santa Fe cuisine with her to Southwest Cafe.
Having lived in Taos, New Mexico, she visits there every year in the Hatch Chile Season from August to September to bring back 800 lbs of hand chosen New Mexican Greens to be raised, peeled and then made into Daily Specials through January.
The food reflects the local cuisine in Northern New Mexico. The Southwest ambience of the cafe can be credited much to the three renowned artist's (and personal friends of Barbara) R.C. Gorman, Tom Noble and Dennis Haggerty, who's visions enhance the walls of the little cafe in posters, paintings and hand-painted envelopes.
Join us for Cinco de Mayo with mariachi singers and drink specials. Also, in celebration of our "birthday" in August, we sponsor a 5k road race, Southwest Cafe Sunset 5k benefiting Sunrise Cottage, a group home here in town.
